Ghanaian Agbeli Kaklo Recipe
Agbeli Kaklo is a Ghanaian snack made from cassava. It is a popular snack sold on the streets of Accra, Ghana. This super crunchy savoury snack originated from the southern part of the Volta Region. It has an inner moistness and an outer crunchy feel. It is usually accompanied with dried coconut. It’s moist, savoury, crunchy - just how you like it!

Ingredients

- Water:
- 1 medium onion (diced): https://niyis.co.uk/fresh-red-onion/
- 400 ml of vegetable oil: https://niyis.co.uk/vegetable-oil-tropical-sun/
- Hard dried coconut (optional):
- 1 tbsp of salt: https://niyis.co.uk/saxa-sea-salt-coarse-350g/
Preparation
- Grate cassava and squeeze cassava in a mesh to remove the moisture.
- Add the dried cassava, onion and salt and mix thoroughly.
- Mould into balls.
- Deep fry the balls in vegetable oil until golden brown.
- Serve the Agbeli kaklo with dried coconut.
