South African Peppermint Crisp Tart

Almost every South African home has served this sweet dessert at family dinners during the holidays. The peppermint crisp tart has become a favourite across the country and has also been adopted worldwide. This dessert is easy to make and even more, fun to enjoy when made a day before with cream, condensed milk, tennis biscuit and chocolate, mostly depending on how best you want to serve it.

Instructions

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Caramel condensed milk
  • 500 ml Fresh cream
  • 2 grated Peppermint crisp chocolate
  • 1 packet Tennis biscuits (or to preference)

Instructions

  1. First place a layer of the tennis biscuits in a dish, it’s best to use a small dish if you want more layers
  2. Then smear the biscuits with at least 1 tin of the caramel condensed milk
  3. Beat the cream gently but do not over-beat; you might turn it into butter. Now, add the grated peppermint and leave some for the top layer later.
  4. Add a layer of the beaten cream with the peppermint crisp on the layer of the tennis biscuits, you can now arrange the tennis biscuit on top of it.
  5. Add another tin of the caramel condensed milk to the cream mixture. Mix it again and add the cream on top of the biscuits and sprinkle the leftover peppermint crisp.
  6. Refrigerate for about 4 to 5 hours to allow the biscuits to soften and the flavours to blend, giving it the delicious taste you want.
  7. ENJOY!
